Bangor Castle and North Down Museum
Discover the origins of the area from the foundation of Bangor
Abbey through the centuries to the significant part played by North
Down during World War II.
11am
Bangor Abbey
Visit the ancient Abbey, founded in the 6th century by St. Comgall.
One of the most important sites in early Christendom, its
distinguished scholarly tradition is also associated with St.
Columbanus, the famed Celtic missionary. The oldest surviving
remnant of its past dates from the 13th century.

Lunch
Enjoy lunch in one of more than 40 restaurants in the area,
catering from pub food through to fine dining, many with views of
Bangor Marina, the largest in Northern Ireland and the beautiful
Belfast Lough.
1.30pm
Sea cruise on Belfast Lough
Cruise up Belfast Lough to Helen’s Bay and Holywood or out of the
Lough to the Copeland Islands and Donaghadee and appreciate the
pretty coastline and unique marine life of the area.
4pm
Cockle Row Cottages
Travel the short distance to the coastal village of Groomsport and
visit the authentic fishermen’s cottages dating back to the early
1900s. Watch traditional craft demonstrations and buy locally made
goods in the gift shop.
