Arts & Entertainment
The Arts in Belfast are surprisingly comprehensive and are
supported with enthusiasm and energy. The cinema going public is
both active and discerning and showings are always well attended;
so too are the theatres, concert halls and galleries. There are
festivals in all genres throughout the year regardless of the
season. We have some of the most exciting and innovative festivals
in these islands; why not check out the world renown
Belfast Festival at Queen’s now in its
48th year, an Arts festival that holds its own with
Edinburgh and Dublin; in June, the Maritime
Festival celebrates our rich heritage as a seafaring city
and the entirely free Festival of Fools
explodes onto the city streets in late April. Coming up in August
is Féile an Phobail, our unique West Belfast Irish
Arts Festival with concerts, debates, exhibitions, drama and street
theatre at various venues featuring world-class and international
acts playing alongside Irish talent.
