Meet the Team
Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau is made up of a
small team who work in various specialised functions focused on the
business and leisure tourism market; these range from
administration, marketing, visitor servicing, retail and
accounting. This covers a wide range of careers within tourism and
requires a diverse range of skills; for example many of the
team members speak two and more languages and most carry a degree
level qualification.
The main departments are Marketing; Communications;
Accounting and Visitor Servicing in three important locations
(Belfast City Centre; Belfast International Airport and George Best
Belfast City Airport).
Belfast Harbour is one of Northern Ireland’s
Top 100 companies and as Northern Ireland's principal maritime
gateway is widely regarded as a cornerstone of the local economy.
The Harbour Estate is home to some of Northern Ireland's most
important regeneration projects and it is the region's leading
logistics & distribution hub.
Board Members are appointed by the
Department for Regional Department (DRD) and the number of
which must be no less than ten and no more than fifteen with
up to four Board Members being elected representatives from Belfast
City Council. Belfast Harbour is independent of Government and is
the responsibility of the Board and the Executive Team. The duties
of the Board Members are akin to those of a company director, in
particular, to be accountable for the proper exercise of the
statutory and administrative requirements placed upon them.
The Operational and Commercial Management of
the Port is divided between various departments.
The Port Operations department encompasses the
Harbour Masters, Port Controllers and Repair & Maintenance
Craft Persons. The Engineering Department includes Civil,
Mechanical and Electrical sections as well as Maintenance
Technicians. The other departments are Commercial
Management, Property Management, Safety & Environmental
Management and Administrative & Support Roles.
